N2FL: At what age did you start playing football?
J.H.: I started playing at age 3 for the southwest Colts, I didn't really play much besides special teams, lol.
N2FL: When and who was your first scholarship offer?
J.H.: My 1st scholarship offer came early November from Texas A&M.
N2FL: How many scholarship offers do you currently have?
J.H.: I only got up to about seven, but before anymore came I was already committed to Texas.
N2FL: What was your favorite college team growing up?
J.H.: Growing up my favorite college team was the University of Miami. I was and still am an Ed REED fan. Plus I loved the swagger they played with.
N2FL: Favorite NFL Team?
J.H.: Americas Team baby, the Dallas Cowboys. I was born into a family where if you didn't like the cowboys you were dang near disowned, lol.
N2FL: Do you try and idolize any specific player?
J.H.: I wouldn't say idolize, but I really like LaDainian Tomlinson and Reggie Bush. Those two by-far are my favorite.
N2FL: Any particular reason for the jersey number?
J.H.: My older brother Brandon wore it when he played in high school, so I chose it in remembrance of him.
N2FL: You committed to Texas in February, why did you decide to end the process so early?
J.H.: Easy: Mack Brown. From the moment I got there he made me feel like I was at home. Plus his track record, in my opinion he is hands down the best coach in college football.
N2FL: What were some of the considerations when choosing your school?
J.H.: Education, tradition, and a family atmosphere. I wanted a college that had the "total package" and Texas has exactly that.
N2FL: What position would you prefer to play in college? Who is recruiting you to play where?
J.H.: I AM going to play running back. Me and coach Brown already discussed that.
N2FL: Who was your lead recruiter at Texas?
J.H.: My area recruiter, coach (Oscar) Giles and my position coach (Ken) Rucker.
N2FL: Are there any schools who continue to recruit you despite your commitment to Texas?
J.H.: Ha-Ha, of course, that's their job. But I am 100% Longhorn so they're wasting their time and money on all that mail.
N2FL: Despite your pledge to the Longhorns, will you take any "official visits" anywhere else?
J.H.: No I definitely will not! To do so would just be a waste of time and money.
N2FL: Was there another school(s) in consideration before you pulled the trigger on the Horns, and what was it about Texas that ultimately sold you on them?
J.H.: I almost said yes to Miami, but with the recent events and with Texas having the total package, I made a wise decision and stayed here in Texas.
N2FL: What are some of your playing strengths?
J.H.: Speed, vision, hands and quick feet. But most of all HEART. I will never quit no matter what the score is.
N2FL: What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?
J.H.: Really size and my all around game. I will be in Austin in July doing just that.
N2FL: How do you feel about Redshirting?
J.H.: I'm graduating early to prevent just that, but when that time comes the best decision for the team will be made.
N2FL: Do you have a major in mind?
J.H.: Mass Communications with a minor in sports broadcasting. When I'm done playing football I want to talk about it all day, lol.
N2FL: What are your goals for your senior season?
J.H.: To win a 5A state championship, anything less is failure.
N2FL: What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?
J.H.: Ha-Ha, that I will start my freshman year. I crossed that team off my list that same day.
N2FL: Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending Texas with you?
J.H.: Sure have; now that I'm going I want the best players in America to come with me.
N2FL: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
J.H.: My older brother Tony. It's hard to believe it, but a 6'7 315lb. Left Tackle taught me how to play running back.
