A.J. Highsmith (June 15, 2008)
N2FL: At what age did you start playing football?
A.H.: I was about 9-years-old
N2FL: When and who was your first scholarship offer?
A.H.: Miami was, in the second week of February.
N2FL: How many scholarship offers do you currently have?
A.H.: I only have 3: from Miami, SMU, and Houston, but Texas A&M shows lots of interest in me.
N2FL: What was your favorite college team growing up?
A.H.: Miami, all the way
N2FL: Have a favorite NFL Team?
A.H.: Green Bay Packers
N2FL: Do you try and emulate any specific player?
A.H.: No, I just look at what the successful professionals do well like Tom Brady, etc. I feel like I am my own player with my own style.
N2FL: Any particular reason for the jersey number?
A.H.: I just liked the number (#10) my freshman year and kept it after I got it.
N2FL: You committed to Miami in mid February, why did you decide to end your recruitment so early?
A.H.: Miami was always my favorite school and I knew inside that I always wanted to be apart of all the tradition the program had. So I accepted the offer as soon as I could.
N2FL: What were some of the considerations when choosing your school?
A.H.: Love for the program and their System. They are always a championship contender. I have family in Miami and I know they have an excellent pro factory. The University of Miami makes me feel welcomed and at home.
N2FL: Are there any schools who continue to recruit you despite your commitment?
A.H.: Not to my knowledge
N2FL: Who was your lead recruiter at Miami?
A.H.: RBs coach Tommie Robinson
N2FL: Despite your pledge to the Hurricanes, will you take any "official visits" anywhere else?
A.H.: No, I am a solid commit to the Hurricanes.
N2FL: Was there another school(s) in consideration before you pulled the trigger on the Canes, and what was it about Miami that ultimately sold you on them?
A.H.: A lot of schools talked to me and said they wanted to see how my senior year went, but I always had Miami as my number one school just because I've loved them my entire life.
N2FL: What do you feel are some of your playing strengths?
A.H.: I am a leader, I am a student of the game, I am accurate and mobile and I understand my offense and set my guys up to make plays.
N2FL: What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?
A.H.: My overall passing attack, my speed and mechanical consistency.
N2FL: Are you being recruited to play somewhere besides Quarterback?
A.H.: There is a possibility that if the scenario at quarterback isn't right, I could play DB.
N2FL: Where does Miami plan on playing you?
A.H.: Quarterback
N2FL: How do you feel about Redshirting?
A.H.: If it will help me with my college career I will, but I would love to play as a true freshman.
N2FL: Do you have a major in mind?
A.H.: Maybe Broadcasting or Journalism.
N2FL: What are your goals for your senior season?
A.H.: To win State.
N2FL: What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?
A.H.: N/A
N2FL: Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending Miami with you?
A.H.: I joke with Craig Loston about coming there but I think other players' college choices are their business.
N2FL: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
A.H.: my father, Alonzo Highsmith.
