Daniel Hood (July 2, 2008)
N2FL: At what age did you start playing football?
D.H.: I started playing football really in depth and training for it my sophomore year in high school (16?).
N2FL: What was your favorite college team growing up?
D.H.: Being from Tennessee, I grew up watching the Vols just about every weekend.
N2FL: Have a favorite NFL Team?
D.H.: I have a couple of favorite NFL teams, and those are the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots.
N2FL: Do you try and emulate any specific player?
D.H.: I try and watch the defensive linemen for whatever team I am watching and I look at what they do great and I try to emulate it.
N2FL: Any particular reason for the jersey number?
D.H.: Until high school I wore the #55 because it was the year my father was born. Now, since I am playing at tight end, I wear the #5 in the same honor to my father.
N2FL: When and who was your first scholarship offer?
D.H.: In late march, I got my first offer from Auburn.
N2FL: How many scholarship offers do you currently have?
D.H.: 17
N2FL: Is there a school that hasn't offered you that you would like to see do so?
D.H.: Right now, I am very content with the schools that have offered me. I have great schools to choose from that are not only good athletically, but are also really strong academically.
N2FL: What are some of the considerations you have when deciding between schools?
D.H.: One of the big things in making my decision is the relationship I feel with the coaches and (when I visit the school) the relationship I build with the players, because these are the people that are going to be mentoring me to my future.
N2FL: Who are the schools currently on your list for consideration? Any leader(s)?
D.H.: Right now I don't have any leaders or any major considerations, I am just preparing for my upcoming season.
N2FL: What positions are you being recruited to play?
D.H.: I am being recruited to play Offensive Tackle, Tight End and Defensive End.
N2FL: What position would you prefer to play in college?
D.H.: I am open to play whatever position is going to make my team succeed and also the position that will give me the best chance to further my athletic career beyond college.
N2FL: Have you thought about who you might want to "officially visit"?
D.H.: I haven't made that decision yet. I am just concentrating on my upcoming season and getting prepared for my teammates.
N2FL: What do you feel are some of your playing strengths?
D.H.: I believe some of my strengths are my love for the game, my motor playing the game and also the talents I have acquired from playing other sports (wrestling, basketball, baseball).
N2FL: What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?
D.H.: I need to improve my strength a lot. I have only been working out with weights for a year and a half and I need to get a lot stronger.
N2FL: How do you feel about Redshirting?
D.H.: If I need to redshirt to become a better addition to my team, so be it.
N2FL: Do you have a major in mind?
D.H.: I was thinking something along the lines of Astrophysics or Aeronautics.
N2FL: What are your goals for your senior season?
D.H.: I want to play every down of every play as hard as possible. I don't want to have any regrets about what I could have done to help my team. I will know that I gave even more than my best and I hope this will help my team propel to victory.
N2FL: What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?
D.H.: N/A
N2FL: Do you have a time frame as to when you would like to commit?
D.H.: I do not have a time frame. I want to wait it out a little bit and take my visits to make 100% sure that I am making the right decision.
N2FL: Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending the same school?
D.H.: I have not.
N2FL: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
D.H.: My father has been the biggest influence on my life. I look at what he grew up through: not knowing who his father was, having 7 brothers and sisters (none of which attended college), growing up poor. But even through all that, my father went to the army and saved that money to go to college and he received his masters from ETSU in teaching and now he owns and operates a Bail Bonding and Bounty Hunting Business. One of a kind man.
