Deon Broomfield (June 30, 2008)

N2FL:  At what age did you start playing football?

D.B.:  I started playing at the age of 5, it was a flag league.

N2FL:  What was your favorite college team growing up?
D.B.: I'm still a big fan of Florida State. I'm a die-hard Seminole.

N2FL:  Have a favorite NFL Team?

D.B.:  America's team, the Dallas Cowboys

N2FL:  Do you try and emulate any specific player?

D.B.:  I try to be just like Reggie Nelson, he's a hometown hero. I also play the same position as him.

N2FL:  Any particular reason for the jersey number?

D.B.:  Well I had #2 for my first three years of high school, but now I have #10. Our coach told us no single digits to create a team orientated team.

N2FL:  When and who was your first scholarship offer?

D.B.:  Florida Atlantic was my first offer, it was back over the spring season. The coach came to a practice and offered me on the spot.

N2FL:  How many scholarship offers do you currently have?

D.B.:  I have 2 offers, Iowa State is the other.

N2FL:  Is there a school that hasn't offered you that you would like to see do so?

D.B.:  Yeah, I would love to get offered by South Florida - it seems very possible. I just attended their SuperBull camp.

N2FL:  What are some of the considerations you have when deciding between schools?

D.B.:  To me it's all about being comfortable - trusting the coaches and feeling like a family.

N2FL:  Who are the schools currently on your list for consideration? Any leader(s)?

D.B.:  South Florida, Iowa State and Florida Atlantic

N2FL:  Who is currently recruiting you the hardest?

D.B.:  Iowa State; I talk with their coaches about once a week. I mean, they are talking a good game.

N2FL:  What position would you prefer to play in college?

D.B.:  I'm getting recruited as a free safety and that's where I'm going to play.

N2FL:  Have you thought about who you might want to "officially visit"?

D.B.:  I already have a date set with Iowa State for their game against Nebraska (10/18). I'm not sure about the other four.

N2FL:  What do you feel are some of your playing strengths?

D.B.:  I have good instincts about the game, I can cover the field at free (safety) and I am a hitter across the middle.

N2FL:  What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?

D.B.:  I want to get my weight up to at least 185 before I leave for college. I am at 175 right now, so I have plenty of time.

N2FL:  How do you feel about Redshirting?

D.B.:  If it happens, I will take advantage of it and become the best I can be with that time.

N2FL:  Do you have a major in mind?

D.B.:  I want to major in Criminal Justice and hopefully get a job with the CIA or FBI.

N2FL:  What are your goals for your senior season?

D.B.:  I want to get a State Championship, make it on the All-State team and be the best leader I can be.

N2FL:  What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?

D.B.:  Well I really haven't heard anything crazy or outrageous.

N2FL:  Do you have a time frame as to when you would like to commit?

D.B.:  No, just whenever I feel the time is right.

N2FL:  Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending the same school?

D.B.:  My close friend Josh Wofford who plays defensive tackle.

N2FL:  Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

D.B.:  My oldest brother Allen. I always wanted to be like him. He started playing ball, so I followed and did the same - he always sets trends.
