Jordan Whiting (May 13, 2008)

N2FL:  At what age did you start playing football?

J.W.:  5-years-old at a dominant program that went by the name 'Hikes Point Lobos'

N2FL:  Who was your first scholarship offer?

J.W.:  University of Kentucky

N2FL:  How many scholarship offers do you currently have?

J.W.:  6; University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, Arkansas ( Coach Petrino), The Ohio State University, Tennessee (Coach Fulmer) and Alabama.

N2FL:  What was your favorite college team growing up?

J.W.:  OSU. BUCKS BABY!!!

N2FL:  Have a favorite NFL Team?

J.W.:  Not really because at that particular level, its hard to pick and choose who will be on top so I try to stay neutral.

N2FL:  Do you try and emulate any specific player?

J.W.:  No. However I've been told (in the most humbled way), I've been compared to Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher. However, I want to be known as Jordan Isiah Whiting not a football player who is identical to other legends. With all due respect of course.

N2FL:  Any particular reason for the jersey number?

J.W.:  I've always had the number three associated in my life. Third child in the family, birthday is October 3rd. I've always been numbers 33, 35, or 38 my whole life.

N2FL:  You committed to Ohio State back in September of 2007, why did you decide to end the process so early?

J.W.:  Yes. I chose OSU at an early stage because I felt that it was the school that was going to best prepare me for life beyond football. I made my decision off of their academics more so than their athletics. Athletics can only take you so far in life and I'm a strong believer in that statement.

N2FL:  What were some of the considerations when choosing your school?

J.W.:  Location; it's only 3 hours north of Louisville, KY and I thought that its academic program, specifically the business program, would better prepare me for life beyond football.

N2FL:  Are there any schools who continue to recruit you despite your commitment?

J.W.:  Of course. You have to realize that it's the college coaches job to persuade football players that they are the best school to attend. They continue to recruit because players can still have the tendency to change their minds which has happened in the past.

N2FL:  Who was your lead recruiter at Ohio State?

J.W.:  Coach Gillium the Recruitment Director. He began the process at their football camp after my sophomore year.

N2FL:  Despite your pledge to the Buckeyes, will you take any "official visits" anywhere else?

J.W.:  I highly doubt I will. However, if I do it is just because I want my parents to have the opportunity to see other places. Believe me nothing is going to change my mind.

N2FL:  Was there another school(s) in consideration before you pulled the trigger on the Buckeyes, and what was it about Ohio State that ultimately sold you on them?

J.W.:  Alabama was my second choice because I wanted to be able to play down south if OSU did not work out. Like I said, not only their athletics pulled me there but their academic success had the most influence on my decision.

N2FL:  What do you view as some of your playing strengths?

J.W.:  I'm a team player and I'm about the team - not individual success.

N2FL:  What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?

J.W.:  Lateral movements and pass pursuit.

N2FL:  Which Linebacker positions are you being recruited to play?

J.W.:  Middle linebacker and I believe Weak Side.

N2FL:  Where does Ohio State plan to play you?

J.W.:  Not sure, where ever they need me.

N2FL:  How do you feel about Redshirting?

J.W.:  It's a possibility. I have not yet decided on that.

N2FL:  Do you have a major in mind?

J.W.:  Business; more so in enterprise.

N2FL:  What are your goals for your senior season?

J.W.:  Go out with a bang and be a leader to the younger kids. Not only just on the team but also those children within the community.

N2FL:  What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?

J.W.:  Nothing really.

N2FL:  Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending Ohio State with you?

J.W.:  Not really, I've only talked to Storm Klein and Melvin Fellows.

N2FL:  Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

J.W.:  God!!!
