N2FL: At what age did you start playing football?
M.G.: At age 14.
N2FL: When and who was your first scholarship offer?
M.G.: Presbyterian was my first college offer. Clemson was the first D1 school to offer. I also got a $500 scholarship from the Scholastics Sportsmanship Foundation at the end of my freshman year.
N2FL: How many scholarship offers do you currently have?
M.G.: Six: Presbyterian College, Clemson, South Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia.
N2FL: What was your favorite college team growing up?
M.G.: Florida State
N2FL: Have a favorite NFL Team?
M.G.: Pittsburgh Steelers
N2FL: Do you try and emulate any specific player?
M.G.: Not really. I just learn and execute fundamentals.
N2FL: Any particular reason for the jersey number?
M.G.: I never really thought of why I chose it (#97). My great grandmother passed away in 1997 when I was little but I didn't think of that when I chose my number.
N2FL: You committed to Clemson in late February, why did you decide to end your recruitment so early?
M.G.: I want to go to school for engineering. Clemson has the type of environment I want to be in. It is instate and is an overall great school in academics and athletics. Most of all, I really bonded with the coaches.
N2FL: What were some of the considerations when choosing your school?
M.G.: I never thought about playing time. Chemistry with the coaches, environment and academics were top reasons. And as I said; it's a great school.
N2FL: Are there any schools who continue to recruit you despite your commitment?
M.G.: Yes; Virginia and South Carolina. Maryland is also, but not as much as South Carolina and Virginia.
N2FL: Who was your lead recruiter at Clemson?
M.G.: Coach Dabo Swinney
N2FL: Despite your pledge to the Tigers, will you take any "official visits" elsewhere?
M.G.: No sir.
N2FL: Was there another school(s) in consideration before you pulled the trigger on the Tigers, and what was it about Clemson that ultimately sold you on them?
M.G.: First I was really looking at Virginia because our kicker, Jimmy Howell signed to go there (class of 2008). After I looked at what I really wanted to do, I moved my focus to Clemson. Clemson just blew me away with their recruiting also.
N2FL: What do you view as some of your playing strengths?
M.G.: Creating separation , getting to the ball and pass rushing. I'm doing better on staying low and playing against the run too.
N2FL: What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?
M.G.: Being a playmaker by getting better at everything I do.
N2FL: What positions are you being recruited to play?
M.G.: Defensive End
N2FL: How do you feel about Redshirting?
M.G.: It doesn't really matter if I do. I just want my education and also to play football. It will be great to play as a freshman but if I redshirt, it will help me work on what I need to work on.
N2FL: Do you have a major in mind?
M.G.: Engineering but I'm unsure on what type.
N2FL: What are your goals for your senior season?
M.G.: GET TO STATE AND WIN.
N2FL: What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?
M.G.: Spurrier told me "the two greatest conferences in football is the NFL.... and the SEC."
N2FL: Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending Clemson with you?
M.G.: I've talked to Craig Loston and DeVonte Holloman since their commitments.
N2FL: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
M.G. My mother and coaches.
