Quinn McClendon (July 6, 2008)

N2FL:  At what age did you start playing football?

Q.M.:  I started playing flag football at age 7 and I played until I was 9. Then I played parks and rec. tackle football at age 11, in the 6th grade. I have been playing every year since.

N2FL:  What was your favorite college team growing up?

Q.M.:  Honestly there never was a favorite. I just tuned in on Saturday afternoons to see who was playing and even now I continue to watch on Saturdays.

N2FL:  Have a favorite NFL Team?

Q.M.:  no

N2FL:  Do you try and emulate any specific player?

Q.M.:  Not at all

N2FL:  Any particular reason for the jersey number?

Q.M.:  No, I just picked a number that I thought would fit me.

N2FL:  Who was your first scholarship offer?

Q.M.:  University of Kentucky

N2FL:  How many scholarship offers do you currently have?

Q.M.:  Just Kentucky, so far

N2FL:  Is there a school that hasn't offered you that you would like to see do so?

Q.M.:  Yeah, South Carolina and Maryland

N2FL:  What are some of the considerations you have when deciding between schools?

Q.M.:  I really don't want to leave the East Coast. Playing time isn't much of a factor my 1st yr; neither is the system or coaching style. I'm always excited to learn new things that will improve my game.

N2FL:  Who are the schools currently on your list for consideration? Any leader(s)?

Q.M.:  Kentucky, Maryland, South Carolina, Clemson, Virginia Tech

N2FL:  Who is currently recruiting you the hardest?

Q.M.:  In terms of who sends the most mail: Clemson and Virginia Tech.

N2FL:  What positions are you being recruited to play?

Q.M.:  Linebacker and possibly Defensive End

N2FL:  What position would you prefer to play in college?

Q.M.:  either Linebacker or Defensive End

N2FL:  Have you thought about who you might want to "officially visit"?

Q.M.:  I haven't put a lot of thought into that lately, but it would definitely be one of my targeted schools.

N2FL:  What do you feel are some of your playing strengths?

Q.M.:  evading and shedding blocks, wrapping up ball-carriers, filling cutback lanes and finding the ball-carrier between the tackles.

N2FL:  What are some things you would like to work on between now and college?

Q.M.:  speed, foot-speed, quickness and agility, upper body strength

N2FL:  How do you feel about Redshirting?

Q.M.:  I wouldn't mind, in most cases the benefits are good

N2FL:  Do you have a major in mind?

Q.M.:  Business, Sociology

N2FL:  What are your goals for your senior season?

Q.M.:  185 or more tackles, 75-80 solo tackles, 2-3 interceptions, 5 sacks, a few forced fumbles and a state championship most of all!

N2FL:  What is the craziest recruiting "pitch" you have heard so far?

Q.M.:  haven't heard one yet

N2FL:  Do you have a time frame as to when you would like to commit?

Q.M.:  Around the time signing day approaches.

N2FL:  Have you communicated with any prospective recruits about attending the same school?

Q.M.:  The starting QB and I talked about attending South Carolina but that's about it as far as I know.

N2FL:  Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

Q.M.:  It's not just one person, it's been many, many people at certain times. At times it may be my family that motivates me to do something major with football. At other times it's my peers that remind me of what kind of future I want for myself and my loved ones. Celebrities and famous people with all their money even motivate me to get what they have. I want my piece of the pie too and I feel like football is the way to get it.
